State Office for Refugee Affairs

Case Study

Key Facts

  • Client: State Office for Refugee Affairs
    (LAF)
  • Location: Berlin
  • Industry: Public administration
  • Application area: Support for refugees on the topics of arrival, social matters, healthcare, housing and return
  • SAVD services used: Over‑the‑phone interpreting, statistics tool
  • Cooperation since: 2024

Challenge

To develop suitable solutions, clients must be able to describe their personal life situation clearly and completely. Without reliable communication, this is hardly possible — important details remain unclear or get lost.

Lösung

The ad hoc availability of interpreting via over‑the‑phone interpreting enables flexible and efficient support in everyday work. Staff are relieved, conversations can be conducted in a more targeted way, and refugees receive the language support they need.
This actively promotes equal participation in migration‑related contexts in line with the Berlin Participation in Immigration Society Act (PartMigG).

Customer review

Trust built through experience

“The interpreter was able to defuse a difficult situation with an upset client thanks to his competent and empathetic manner. As a counsellor, it is a wonderful experience when a conversation takes a positive turn because an interpreter is involved.”
