In the medical services of Vienna‑Josefstadt Prison, patients from many different linguistic backgrounds are cared for. Clear communication is a key prerequisite for medical examinations and consultations.
Previously, the organisation of external interpreters was time‑consuming and costly, which made smooth medical workflows more difficult.
Solution
With SAVD’s video remote interpreting, suitable language support is available at short notice. Medical consultations can be conducted without lengthy organisational effort, workflows are accelerated and language barriers are reliably overcome.
As a result, video remote interpreting has become an established part of everyday medical practice.

Not only is a suitable language interpretation available within a very short time, allowing patients to be examined without complications, but workflows have also been significantly accelerated by this medium. This improvement is primarily due to the elimination of the previous need to organise external interpreters and the associated economic and time‑related disadvantages. With this service, it has been possible to conduct standardised medical history taking and examinations free of language barriers. Video interpreting is now used in both outpatient and inpatient settings and, with over 60 ethnic groups represented within the facility, has become an indispensable procedure.”
