Before SAVD Videodolmetschen GmbH was founded
May 2011: The Austrian patient safety platform Plattform Patientensicherheit founds the working group “Dealing with non-German-speaking patients” in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Health.
A few months later: Following the scientific conference “How much German does one need to be healthy? Migration, health, and translation,” the pilot project “Video remote interpreting in health care” is launched. The concept is developed by Plattform Patientensicherheit in cooperation with the Institut für Ethik und Recht in der Medizin, the ServiceCenter ÖGS.barrierefrei, and the Centre for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna.
October 2013: Project starts in twelve hospitals and ten health centers.
March 2014: Successful completion of the test phase and preparation of the accompanying scientific study.
June 2014: Founding of SAVD Videodolmetschen GmbH with headquarters in Vienna
February 2015: Service is expanded from health care to other areas, e.g., esp. public administration and the asylum system.
March 2015: SAVD wins the State Prize in the category of e-health, e-government, citizen services, and open data
July 2015: Expansion to Germany
December 2015: SAVD wins an Austria-wide call for tenders (BBG) of some €30 million
February 2016: Weekend, public holiday, and night service is launched
March 2016: A framework agreement is concluded with Dataport
April 2016: SAVD wins the call for tenders by the Federal Employment Agency
February 2017: Supervisions are made available for interpreters
September 2017: A pilot project starts for video remote interpreting in Switzerland with four agencies
2017 and 2018: SAVD wins the calls for tenders for all correctional facilities in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Rhineland-Platinate, and Saxony
April 2018: The “qualified electronic signature” (QES) is introduced for our interpreters
December 2018: SAVD wins the second call for tenders by the Federal Employment Agency
April 2019: SAVD wins the call for tenders by the Thuringian Ministry of Migration, Justice, and Consumer Protection
September 2019: SAVD wins the call for tenders by Vitos clinics
September 2019: SAVD wins the Health Angel Award in the category of digital health/telemedicine & compatibility
